Esophageal veins initiates from what vein?

Esophageal veins arise from the submucosal plexus of the esophagus and drain into inferior thyroid, superiorintercostal,azygos and hemiazygos veins from above downwards.All of these ultimately drain into the superior venacava. The inferior most esophageal veins anastamose with the left gastric veins of the portal system and so it is a site of portocaval anastamosis.
