SHBG...the things that decrease it..concept? - reaction
#1
SHBG..sex hormone binding globulin
It's synthesis is decreased by:
1. Androgens
2. Insulin
3. Obesity
4. Hypothyroidism

can someone please explain the concept of how each of the above factors decreases the synthsis of SHBG.

I know that estrogen can increase it's synth in the liver.

thanks.

ok guys..this wasn't an mcq question..maybe i shouldn't have put numbers. I was only trying to list all the conditions that decrease the synth. of SHBG. All I want to know is the concept behind how each (comditions 1-4) decrease the synth. of SHBG.

Thank you derma....but i don't think you understood my question.

Androgens,Insulin,Obesity, Hypothyroidism ........all of these decrease the synth. of SHBG...I am asking if anyone can explain the concept of WHY for each of these..that is my question , not what decreases and what increases.
e.g. why does hypothyroidism decrease the synthesis of SHBG?
" " obeisity " " " " ? ect.
