hi genesm,
as far as I know, you can not find the attending like job after the fellowship. I think you must finished Step 3 to apply the fellowship position. however, even after that, you still will not have the license you need to practise clinical in US. however, if you take 5 years fellowship or other clinical experiences (what i know is for orthopaedic surgeon), and you have finished a resident program in China, and you have a title of associated professor, then you can join the board for specialist. but, I donot know what will happen after that. I think it is better for you to take one year fellow then match again. best wishes if you want to disscus more, just email me drwangwb

Hi, dongbeiren, appreciate your posts.
Congratulations to all the friends matched . Best wishes to all that did not get through it this year. I've heard of many stories, like with low scores 82(2nd attempt)/87/pass/not take, 3 interviews, but matched this year. Please don't, never give up. Everyone knows, we people came from China is very smart and work hard. Mine:90/88/pass/not take, 4 interviews, matched a relatively competitive specialty (University based program, but not with a good reputation). GC holder. 7 years clinical experience in China, 5.5 years research experience in US.I applied very late, got ECFMG certificate on the last day of Nov. I think the main reason I got matched is I prepared well for the interviews. And my spoken English is good (though my vocabulary is very low).
