a paid research job means commitment, I don't think, they will agree to train you to work with them if they know that you are leaving them in a couple of months, in another word, have a plan, if you are aiming for residency then get externship and observership, but if you are not expecting to start residency soon then go for it

agree with above. one other thing is your immigration status, if you have GC, getting a paid job is not a problem but if you are on a student or a visitor visa then it will be more difficult and your visa needs to be changed.

I have a question regarding H1 visa seeking applicants. if we find out by april result that we fail step 3, and that we have to retake the exam, how long should we wait for the new result to come out? is it going to be a long time too?
