7 year rule for step 3?? - conda
#11

http://www.ecfmg.org/2016ib/2016ib.pdf, page 24-25 describe the requirements for ECFMG Certification, which has NOTHING to do with Step 3.

Important Notes (Page 25): Time limits to complete the USMLE for the purpose of U.S. medical licensure are established by state medical licensing authorities and may require completion of all Steps or Step Components (including STEP 3, which is NOT required for ECFMG Certification) within seven years.

Information regarding specific state requirements can be obtained on the FSMB website (http://www.fsmb.org/policy/public-resour...e_specific)

Basic requirements to take STEP 3 for IMG applicants:
1. Graduated from a school that is on ECFMG's list
2. Currrent ECFMG certificate.

The 7 YEAR RULE as it relates to passing all step exams withing 7 years from passing the first USMLE exam has to do MEDICAL LICENSE.

Most state require completion of all STEP EXAMS (1,2,3) within 7 years, some 10 years, and some states for example, Florida have NO rule regarding Step 3 time line (http://www.fsmb.org/policy/public-resour...e_specific).

Thank you all for the information

I just checked it up at the related websites, and I can be eligible to take the step 3 and apply for licensure in those states only which don't have the 7 year rule.

Hey conda. Good luck. I have a quick as. Are you done with residency? Can we apply for licensure without residency/on the basis of previous experience. I myself don't think so. Your comments?
