A child presents with fever for 3 weeks, and history and repeated physical examinations fail to reveal a cause. If directed/selective initial tests fail to lead to a diagnosis, which imaging modality may be a useful next step in a patient with FUO?
a.Abdominal obstruction series
b. Bone scan
c. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen
d. Gallium scan
e. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain

CT of the abdomen. The literature on evaluation of FUO supports the use of abdominal CT (or ultrasound) as a useful step if initial directed testing is inconclusive. Abdominal imaging reveals occult abscesses, or more rarely, tumors
