GAMMA DELTA T CELLS ARE THE ONLY CATEGORY OF T CELLS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE EDUCATION AND SELECTION in the thymus. They posess a t cell receptor that has a gamma and a delta chains instead of the more common alpha beta receptor, their functin is not known but they make up the majority of the t cells in the submucosa and the intraepithelial spaces
Ig a requires the cytokines of Th2 cells to cause the isotype switching in b lymphos . the th2 cells require education and selection in thymus in order for this to happen
btw i have never heard of these gamma delta t cells , this is a q from kaplan qbank (2007). anyone with any more on them please contribute.thx
