A patient is taking calcium supplement for her osteoporosis. She also has high BP. You are thinking to give her calcium blocker. Then you ask her
1. to stop ca supplement
2. ask her to continue ca supplement as it has nothing to do with BP medication.

Just come up with this real life problem. It is a good concept. Who know if it will come up in the exam?

don't you think more calcium will hinder CCB? In pharmaco, we learnt competitive antagonists; so you need more CCB dose to overcome Ca supplement.

2 is correct. CCB act only at intracellular level

99% of ca is deposited in bones and teeth and only 1% in blood.. to make substantial difference in blood which can cause hypercalcemia hence problem with ccb one needs to take tons of supplements and that too for long time hence 2nd chopice is correctl. hope it helps
