7 year limit rule -

7 year limit worried - yuhanggao

I took step 1 in March 97, and step 2 in March 98. Obviously I am through the 7 year limit. I will take step 3 in May. Do I need to re-take step 1 only, or do I need to re-take step 2 as well to re-satisfy the 7 year limit rule? The wording "Must complete USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3 within seven years of passing first exam." is not clear to me. Thanks for providing any useful information.

Theoretically, u need to retake steps 1 and 2.but some states do not have this 7-yr rule,u can apply license in those states after passing step3.
