#1
can anyone explain me difference between two..i did search on internet but still confused..

say if i take prelim-im does it mean i have fall for match again, give interviews for entering pgy2 postion?or i have to begin from pgy1 again?

what is transitional prog?

why are these program competitive?shouldnt it be other way around-categorical programmes should be competitive where you can complete your whole residency stat?

Yes you are right about the prelim....you will have to go through the match again for PGY2. Usually people who are going into radiology or Surgery or any of the specialities that require 1 yr of prelim training they usually do it. Therefore, thats the reason why they are so competitive.
Transitional: Usually people who are undecided about their speciality they do it and again with this one too you will have to go throught the match again.
