is the given answer e correct??
i think the condition is respiratory acidosis , for which compensation shold be metabloic alkalosis..?

compensation is still metabolic alkalosis here..

to create alkalosis u have to lose H ions.. which r lost in NH4cl .. remember NH3 + H+ FORMS NH4+ and will get excreted in urine..

another thing that mmight help u - we give NH4CL in patients with amphetamines poisoning , coz amphetamines r basic and giving acid LIKE NH4CL increases ionic form of amphetamines preventing their reabsorption
