#1
A mother from Rio Branco, Brasil brings his 9 years old child to the Pediatric's office. The physicians ordered a new test to diagnostic DM. The result is considered abnormal. This test has a sensitivity of 90% and specificity of 80%. The prevalence of DM in childs of this region is 15%. What is the estimate of the likelihood that this child has DM?

Please do the explain. Thanks.

if u read anees q the its similar
so consider a sample of 1000 people
out of which 15% is the prevalence
ie around 150 people
make a 2*2 table
sensitivity is 90% therefore tp 90%of 150 ie 135

and second columns rest 850 have no disease so 80% specificity hence
80% 850 are true negatives

so now for the q likelihood of dm
ie ppv = tp/allthose who test positive will fetch u the answer
