why uncal herniation compresses contralateral (opposite) cerebral peduncle???

or it compresses the ipsilateral cerebral peduncle??

i read it in step1. it was something kernohn's phenomenon. something like that.

yes compression of opposite peduncles.

thanks vanco...so what do you expect in Right uncal herniation??? RT or LT hemiperesis?? I mean this phenomenon always happen or rarely???

sir i think right uncal herniation develops left hemepersis.

Since right uncle herniation pushes the opposite( left here). Left hemiparesis will be seen.

Correct me if i am wrong.

yes that is true because RT uncal herniation would directly compress RT cerebral peduncle causing LT hemiperesis....

BUT UW says that RT uncal herniation compresses LT cerebral peduncle and causes "ipsilateral" hemeperesis(RT) on the side of the injury?????? Must be a typo or what????

Its not a typo. Right uncal herniation would compress left cerebral peduncle which carries the opposite side coticospinal fibres, causing right side hemiparesis. Thus happening to be ipsilateral hemiparesis.
