I recently discussed what you guys are doing with one of the residency directors of IM in the hospital where I am currently doing research. He told me that it is already hard to accept a foreign IMG into the program when they don't have a gc/citizen status, but that through the years the ones chosen have been outstanding residents. He thinks that your proposal intends to change things but when he has to pick who enters the program with the commitee their selection criteria is entirely based on the interview and the supporting credentials. Nevertheless , he told me that if two applicants have the exact same credentials and the only difference between them is their GC/citizen status they ALWAYS pick the gc/citizen . He enmphazied the fact that residency selection is and will be guided by interview and credentials (in that order) and that GC/citizen status would never make them pick a weaker applicant over an stronger applicant independently of their visa status.

@ ldumed

when the system is jammed with thousands and thousands of applications, and when each program gets at least 1000 applications ,the PDS do not look at the green card/citizen issue because they have the luxury of offering visas to unlimited numbers of people .
so,tell me how we could get in if we can not get an interview?
