Hi, I'm a IMG. My question is: Most hospitals have non-clinical volunteer programs. You know, where you help out the nurses etc. Are these helpful for getting a residency or just a waste of time? Hospitals in my area don't provide observerships.

shadowing a private clinic is better thn such volunteer work.
if u have absol no other option, start with that and see if u can meet up some doc in the hosp and get an obship under him in tht hosp/ his clinic.
u can always leave the volunteer work if u find iit s not working..
