Which fluid should be used in a child of 8 month having diarrhea and following labs. Na 150 mEq/l K 4.9 mEq/l HCO 15 mEq/l Cl 109 mEq/l PH 7.21
1. 0.2 % NaCl
2. 0.33 % NaCl
3. 0.45 % NaCl
4. 3 % NaCl

yes you are reaching close and close reduce Na in your solution!

The little dude is severely HyperNa-emic, so 0.2% would be the answer. Once the kid is rehydrated oral solutions such Pedialyte could be given.
