adameve,
I respect your decision. I wish you all the best wherever you go I believe you will be a great doctor. If you still desire to get a US education you could always come back for fellowship in the future.

marsjasmine, dief68 and columbus,
you are all welcome and may God bless you too.

I would like to share another favorite inspirational poem "The victor"

The Victor
Poet: C.W. Longenecker

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don™t
If you like to win but think you can™t,
It™s almost a cinch you won™t.

If you think you™ll lose, you™re lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow™s will
It™s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You™ve got to think high to rise.
You™ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.

Life™s battles don™t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

I just noticed I had in the past posted the contents of " the victor" on this thread. So here is another poem.

Anyway
Poet: Unknown

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway!

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway!

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway!

The good you do today, will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway!

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway!

The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds;
Think big anyway!

People favor underdogs, but follow only top dogs.
Fight for underdogs anyway!

What you spend years building up may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway!

People really need help, but will attack you if you help them.
Help them anyway!

Give the world the best you have and it may kick you in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway!

"I don't dwell in the past;
I don't wallow in old events and emotions.
I don't waste time on regret.
No use going over and over
the details of what already happened."

The motivational poem: The Park Bench tells a story that will make you stop and appreciate each day you have is special. We hope the inspirational words of wisdom inspire you to live each day.

The Park Bench
Poet: Unknown

Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren't enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
With its petals all worn - not enough rain, or too little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a smile and then shifted away.
But instead of retreating he sat next to my side
And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise,
"It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful too.
That's why I picked it; here, it's for you."

The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors: orange, yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need."
But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the first time
That weed-toting boy could not see he was blind.

I heard my voice quiver; tears shone in the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second that's mine.
And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose
And smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in hand,
About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

A contribution from Imgspouse.

Live for today, hope for tomorrow
And forgot about yesterday...forgot
˜I CAN™T ˜ for those are the words of a coward
And remember ˜I WILL TRY™ for those
Are the words of a potential winner?

The only way you can regret yesterday is
When you™ve never learnt anything from it
And remember that what ever you worry about
It™s in the past, there is nothing you can change or do about it,
Just accept to choose to see
Yesterday˜s problems as an opportunity to grow.

Worry is wasting today™s time
Cluttering up tomorrow˜s opportunities
With yesterday˜s trouble.
How many times do we look back on?
An event and think, if only I had...
How many times do we do something that we wish hadn™t done?
You can™t change a past event,
Its yesterday, you can™t change what has been done.

Do you call it regret, sorrow, repentance?
Do you think about what might have been?
Do you relieve an event the way it should have been?
Forget about regret and focus on today, not on yesterday.
Focus on what you can do, not what you didn™t do.

The only thing to feel sorrow for
Is not living each day to the fullest,
The only thing to repent is to sincerely say I™m sorry!
Don™t live your life regretting yesterday...
Live your life so tomorrow you won™t regret today.
It doesn™t matter what anyone thinks or say about you,
What really matters is what you think and say about your self...
Then what you do about it.

Thank you Wink
