Failed Step 2 CS today (Sept 10 philly) - rajadoc1
#1
I got score report today. Failed CIS. Passed ICE and SEP. Am Canadian so english wasn't an issue.
Total surprise because I had a 233/98 on Step 1. Good clinical evaluations. No previous complaints about professional /interpersonal skills. I think in retrospect I didn't spend much time to "close" or explain diease concepts thoroughly to patients.. Focused more on data gathering and telling them what follw up tests we would do. Could this be the cause of failing? Forgot to wash hands in one encounter.

Applied for the 2010 match in ortho surg. My ERAS USMLE Scores aren't automatically updated, so do I still stand a chance of matching if I pass in December?

Any advice what i should be doing to prepare again? My studying was only reading FA twice.
Is a Kaplan course a good idea or tutoring better?
Is this possible to get another CS test date before Dec 30?

Kaplan course is worth the money, esp. for CIS. I passed in my second attempt after taking this course. I wish I would have known it before. Good luck!

Sorry to hear bout ur failure. For CIS the best way might be practicing with a partner,so that he can guide u on what mistakes u r making. And read First Aid to know the various aspects that constitute CIS like transition sentences, empathy, curtesy, summerization, counselling etc.The more u practice the better u can become in CIS.All the best.

rajadoc1 ,sorry about the CS failure,i am in the same boat.Keep your head up,look for a spot before dec 31 mainly midnight is the better time or activate alert n fix a date.Once you manage to get a date read the tricks n tips of CS(neeraj notes or DIGITAL DOC USMLE) and practice. Then u will be aware of what the SPs need from you and practice. You shouid be good to go for the exam and the match after WARDS.if u need neeraj notes ,drop ur email here,i will send it to you.
