at autopsy, a patient who dies with acute anuria and uremia is found to have ischemmic necrosis of the cortices of both kidneys with relative sparing of the medulla. These pathologic findings are most likely related to

1) Adult polycystic kidney disease
2) DIC
3) multiple myeloma
4) sickle cell crisis
5) pyelonephritis

the answer is DIC - diffuse b/l cortical ischemic necrosis with relative sparing of medulla. supposed to be due to DIC + vasoconstriction, es common in obstetric causes of DIC e.g., abruptio.
