a 6 yr old having pain in rite knee on walking.pt had URTI 2weeks ago,vitals bp 100/70,PR 80,RR18/min.temp 99.8.there is swelling tenderness n warmth over the lower part of the rite femur.hip n knee exam is normal,lab shows ESR of 50,WBC 18,000.rest of exam is normal.xray shows some soft tissue swelling over the lower end of rite femur,whts the next step in managmnt

1.obtain blood cultures n start hin on IV antibiotics
2.do a needle aspiration of the join
3.obatin bone scan n start on antibiotics(oral)
4.do LP to rule out meningitis
5.obtain MRI n start on IV antibiotcs

333. bone scan picks up pathology early.

Because you give the answer with ORAL antibiotic, IV is better so answer 1

so if ans 3 had iv antibiotics that would be right??
