May dinner ba before the IV. Ilan usually ang nag-iinterview sa candidate? Nag-preprematch ba sila? Any advice for us? Sana naman matulungan nyo kami. Salamat ng marami! More power to all Filipino MDs!

I have met a couple of Pinoy applicants who encountered medical/clinical case questions as well as medical ethics type questions. If you are not yet familiar with the ACGME core competencies, please familiarize yourself with those 7 because most of the questions (I think) come from those 7 principles.

Very old grad na ako 1995 pa. Passed all 2 steps., wala pa step 3. Meron pa kaya ako chance considering 15 yrs ago pa ako graduate?

Hi Planters! I am not the best authority to answer your question kasi isa din akong hopeful at wala pa nga akong steps na kinuha. So your question is very interesting to me. Since mukhang busy ang mga kababayan natin who might be more knowledgeable than me, sasagot ako Wink I have a good friend that graduated in med school in 1992. Finished her steps last year and applied and she got matched. She is now doing her first year residency in Pediatrics. She had prior residency in Peds sa atin before coming over as a nurse so i guess that one helped a lot. So, kung pag-asa ang paguusapan, I guess meron pa. I hope this helped. Thanks!

hi planters and honeyjen, here is my two cents re your question....there will always be hope but you have to maximize these things....scores, clinical experience, and connections ...do well in your step 3, make sure you have been practicing med since you will be asked what you have been doing and programs prefer those old grads who have been into clinical practice (research helps too), and for very old grads connect with your batchmates especially those who are attendings or into academics for they can help in landing you interviews...the problem with those more than 10 year grad is the lesser number of programs you can apply to and most programs would screen you based on that already and so thisis where the connections matter the most...
