LOR, Do you need an ERAS ID to get them? - missthalassemia
#1
Hello everybody,

I am currently doing my electives in Radiology and an attending has accepted to write a letter of recommendation for me, but he says that I need to have an ERAS ID and ERAS form filled out in order for him to put my ID in the letter and for this letter to be accepted by ERAS, otherwise it means nothing. I don t have an ERAS ID and I believe you get one once you are ECFMG certified and applying for residency which I am not yet, I haven t even given step 1 yet.

What is the solution? Should ask him for a letter anyway or what? what is the solution i am confused? Please help

You don't need an ERAS ID to get an LOR. Tell your letter writer that you are not ECFMG certified and hence donot have an ERAS id and that you will be using this letter for the future match. Obviously you will not waive the right to see the letter and ask your attending to mention your full name and other details along with your skills in detail.

hope this helps
