old IMG trying to make a career decision - alia70
#1
I am an old IMG. Graduated in1996. Passed my steps in 96 and 97 respectively. But could not continue with my career owing to personal reasons. I am working as volunteer research assistant. Desperately wanting to make a career choice. What are my options in healthcare field?
Thanks

Your scores are great. you worked hard. Did you try to apply for resi and did you get Ivs. Are you aware of less stressful residency prog like pathology, psychiatry. Any other choice has stress and less pay.
here are few i am aware of 1. research assistant- less than 30k.
2. CRC -- 33 to 43K need CRC experience or data management experience in pharma com or Smo or CRO.
3.CRA - 60 to 80 k need monitering experience. Also nursing degree with CRC experience helps.
4. Nursing- more stressfull than a lincenced doc.
5. PA - Not sure about how much stress, but has to do pre requisits like bilogy, chemistry, math before you apply for PA prog. Very compitative.
6. Mph.. no jobs, has to do phd and look for job in pharma com
7. MBA- 2 years, not sure to get job immediately.

I have thought about all these ,nothing is less stressful. If you have questions my email njdocrp

In my opinion, PA is more appealing and eventually ends you in a residency program.GL
