hi would someone please confirm if we give heparin on admission and warfarin to all patients with m.i ? or just in special circumstances?
mtb3 does not mention anythin about heparin use ...and warfarin follow thru

dear gloworm,

hep in only NON st seg elevation MIs. hep is best here.

if st elevation give hep but only aft thrombolytics.

re the warf.... hell i dunno... all i remember is u just put the poor guy on ASA.... nothin else re warf longterm comin to me....

according to mtb2 ...
heparin should be given in the tx mi but only after thrombolytics...and he says no about warfarin use...

according to uw:
anterior wall MI are associated with increased risk of arterial thromboembolism,therefore pts require full dose of heparin followed by 3months of warfarin therapy.

yeah thats what i have written down in ma notes too ,,,but mtb is not clear on this topic and got me confused....il check kaplan to reconfirm....thanks torsade..
