Layman term for inflammation--please advise - drr1

Can someone plz suggest what to tell the SP about inflammation. If we have to explain gastritis or cholecystitis how do we explain?? Thanks in advance

Inflammation is also a common man's lingo in way - but if u wanna explain to the last uncomplicated word - Inflammation is the body's natural response to any injury - infectious or non-infectious..commonly accompanied by swelling and pain ..
