Best time for Step-3 -

Guys!! could any one tell which is the best time to take step-3? before or after joining the residency???

I heard it is better to take before residency because
while you are doing residency, you don't have a time
to study. On the other hand, questions are related to clinical
practice , so it is easier to remember or understand if you study during residency. Does it make sence?
But I am going to try to take step 3 before residency
Because passing step 3 before residency give you good credit
to get you in residency program. This is what I heard.
