Neisseria meningitis Vs Neisseria gonorrhea
Both are
Gram -ve
Diplococci
Glucose fermenter
Appearance of doughnuts on microscopy
Grow on chocolate agar + Thayer Martin selective media
Facultative anaerobe
Cytochrome oxidase +ve (turn tetramethylphenylene from colorless to pink) (fancy information lol )
But
N.meningitidis ✈✈✈✈g Malttose. Fermented rarely produce b_lactamase , has capsule so it has vaccine, spread by respiratory transmission causing meningitis and septicemia ttt by penicillin G, or ceftriaxone , for contact use Rifampin.
N.gonorrhoeae ✈✈✈✈✈✈✈only ferment glucose, beta lactamase +ve ,sexual transmission , cause gonorrhea, bactermia, septic arthritis ,ophthalmia neonatorum
ttt 3rd generation cephalosporin, add doxycycline to cover Chlamydia.
To prevent neonatal eye info give erythromycin eye drops immediately after birth (will cover both N. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia infection.

(6mo -6yr)✈✈✈✈✈✈S.pneumonia
(6yr-60)✈✈✈✈✈✈✈N.meningitis &. S.pneumonia
(>60)✈✈✈✈✈✈✈S.pnumoniae then listeria

Bacteria fragilis
Gram -ve rod
Strictly anaerobe
Polysaccharide capsule
No spore
Intestinal normal flora (antibiotics resistance), normally produce vit K
Cause peritonitis, GIT or pelvic access
Clue✈✈✈pt with abdominal truma, emergency abdominal surgery, septicemia ,peritonitis or pelvic abscess following septic abortion
ttt✈✈✈metronidazole or clindamycin +- surgery to drain abscess

For both meningitis and pneumonia
(0-6mo) most common is Group B streptococci (S. agalectiae) followed by E. Coli
But in clinical vignette they like to link listeria to neonatal meningitis because listeria is famous for septicemia in pregnancy
I hope this helpful
