Location in ccs cases - ahmedbengaber
#1
Since it is only stat orders in the ccs cases. Do we send the patient home in the office settings after putting the orders and have them to come back when the results are available even if the diagnostic test takes only 30 minutes to come back or they wait in the office ?
My exam in 2 days and I need an answer please
Thank you.

I think it depends on the case. For ex, if it's something that you will need other test results to properly diagnose patient, then send home, like in the case with colon cancer, you can not diagnose and prescribe anything until you are sure that the patient has cancer, however for cases like with young women and UTI, you perform urine pregnancy test in the office, and then you prescribe medication and send her home, and let her come back once the AB sensitivity is confirmed/urine culture is back and to follow up. So in some cases you can perform stat test, get results, prescribe meds and then send home, in others you have to send them home and f/u after all results are back.
