Hi friends,

Please guide me. My scores are 80/85. I am extremely worried. I don't have any US clinical experience. At this point I don't think I will get an observership or externship . Will it be very competetive in FP ? How about IM ? Please please help me. What should I do ?

Try to contact Hospital @ Voluntary department if they allow you for externship or observership then take it , eventually it will be very helpful.

most programs prefer USA experience but it is not mandatory,its ur cv and personal statement they would go after and ur performance in interviews, these all would be considered collectively and not only the scores and USA clinical exp.so donot worry about it . Same is the case with me .MY scores r 83 IN STEP 1 AND 84 IN step 2 .U have chances of getting residency even without usa cli exp .keep ur morals high

I HAVE THE SAME SCORES AS URS ,THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS HAVING A GREEN CARD. WHAT I SUGGEST U IS GET AN OBSERVERSHIP- PREFERABLY IN A HOSPITAL;IF NOT EVEN U CAN DO A OBSERVERSHIP WITH ANY PHYSICIAN DOING PRIVATE PRACTICE IN US- AND THEN GET A RECOMMENDATION LETTER FROM HIM/HER- IF POSSIBLE ON THE HOSPITAL LETTER HEAD HE /SHE IS WORKING AT- THIS SHUD WORK. AFREEN FROM UR NAME ICAN TELL EITHER UR OF PAKISTANI OR INDIAN ORIGIN-THERE ARE PLENTY OF PHYSICIANS FROM THESE COUNTRIES IN NEWYORK NEWJERSEY,ETC.-IF U KNOW THEM SOMEHOW- U CAN ASK FOR OBSERVERSHIP.EVEN WITHOUT OBSERVERSHIP U CAN APPLY- BUT PREFERABLE IF U DO WITH OBSERVERSHIP.
