i got 83/205 on second attempt and i graduated in 2002. am planning to take step 2 in june and csa soon after. what are my chances of finding an IM residency? how much does an extra attempt affect my chances?

Don't Worry

I Know a person with exactly same credentials like you, Step1-83 second attempt and Step2-86, Got 7 interviews(OB, FP, Peds) in total after applying very late and got prematched in OBG. So you will be fine.

don't get inflammed about your attemts.i too had 2 attempts on step 1, had 87 in step 2,and this year signed a prematch with IM in a university program.so just concentrate on step 2.all the best.
