step 3 and H1 -

Can I get H1 without passing step 3? Some states like N.J. ask for 1 year clinical experience before taking step 3. If I apply and pass step 3 in Texas and apply for program in states like N.J., will the score help me getting H1? Thanks.

Yes, you can take step 3 under the sponsorship of any state. Most FMGs without clinical experience in the US will meet the criteria for step 3 set by the the State oc Connecticut. With your result you can apply for an H1 visa to use in any state.

Hi Med95,

I heard in CA you must complete 3 years residency prior to sit for step 3. Is it true? If I take stpe 3 and apply for residence in CA. Would they refuse me?

Please advise.
