A 60 y/o F is discovered to have megaloblastic anemia. Pat past me history 7 shot of tequila every night for years. Which of the following would be the best treatment option yr pat?

a)Oral vit B12.
b)Sublingula Vit B12
c)Parenteral vitamin B12
d)Oral folate
e)Oral vitamin B12 with oral folate
"D"
im between D and E, i'll pick D (oral folate)
The lady has history of alcoholism ( alcoholic in simple word 7 shot, You both right suggest folic acid def anemia. However, folic acid adm sole fix hematologic abnormality & masks possible vit B12 def-> severe neurologic dysf that pat face with. The cause of "megaloblastic anemia" needs to be determined in order to be specific in terms of treatment. Therefore, megaloblastic anemia SHOULD NEVER be treated with folic acid alone. You treat it with combo of Vit B12 & Folate.
NEVER FOR GET THAT in real practice or steps. Ans *E* alicia is correct.
thankyou
