Hi guys..all the best for the match!!!! hope all of us are able to make into residency.....
GL everybody, I was wondering how long are our lists are. Mine is 8 programs long, how about you guys?
mine is 10 programs long...Good luck to all of us!!!
Hey everybody. Let us keep each other company, now that we are in countdown. Most of the other threads are too boring (with the exception of the "scary letter" ones which are sort of entertaining).

I don't know if I am crazy, but I will not waste my time with scramble if I do not match. Last year, there were only 9 unfilled positions for ObGyn.

I have great expectations for this year! I have 5 programs in my ROL and got second look invitations from two of them, and a call from the PD of another one a few days before the ROL certificatrion deadline.

However, God forbid, if we have to go through this process again next year (I will keep on trying for ObGyn no matter how many years its takes me), which programs would you definitely send application to, and which ones would you discard?

For example, I think that nobody got Ivs from the Buffalo programs. I did not see anybody receive Ivs from the Alabama, North Carolina or South Carolina programs either. Upstate Florida (Jacksonville, Gainsville, Pensacola) seems also like a waste of time. On the other hand, I did not apply to Flushing, Lincoln, Bronx Lebanon, Danbury, Morristown or Crozer Chester, and a number of you did receive invitations from them.

I wish everybody the best of luck! Let us pray for each other...

You´ll do great Briseis, those 2nd look invitations and the PD call are very positive signs. You´re right about the programs, half of my IVs came from NYC and in Florida, the only porgram that takes IMGs (and they are proud of it) is Jackson Memorial in Miami,

Can I ask how many programs did you include in your list last year?
Thanks Principito. Don't remind me .... I applied to 100 progs!! Will be paying my credit card for a long time!! I sent about 25 appls to programs around NYC, but got only 1 IV and 1 rejection from those programs. The rest were absolutely silent, which was very frustrating. I had placed my highest hopes in those progrs.

How do you feel about your chances at Jackson? My interview there went well - I think - but I did not receive any feedback from the afterwards, so I am not hopeful about my chances there at all. I did not like the attitude of the residents towards the candidates. In the gathering they organized for us, they stayed amongst themselves and made it difficult/uncorfortable to even approach them. I had a completely different experience in the other Ivs I had. What was your experience like?
I don´t know about Jackson either, I don´t think they give any feedback to candidates after the IV. The chairman told me during the IV they were interested in me but I don´t know how to read that. The meeting with the residents wasn´t that bad, but I agree that it was much better in other places. When was your IV? I went there on December 13th. Is this your first match or did you apply for 2008? If so, how many Ivs did you get that year?

Cheers
This is my second match season. Last year I applied to 30 programs, but sent applications very late, at the end of october. I only got 1 IV.
I applied late, so I am not too hopeful, just a couple of progs in my ROL, no feedback from either of them. But who knows? Any advise from you guys with regard to places to do observerships/USCE to improve my chances in OBGYN next year.

Good luck to everyone !!!
Here´s the link tintan, I did observership there, it´s pretty good. http://www.med.miami.edu/imi/x57.xml
