thanks docs... I have to give it some more thoughts, i hate the idea of scramble , but may be it worth the shot
I beleive it is worth the shot, but all depends on the rest of your list...........
I will give a shot anyway.
Hi smartneuro, thanks for reply..Getting matched or not is not the issue..My question is all advanced position for neuro 2012 would be filled in this match itself,so if I finish my prelim should I apply again next year for advanced positions that start in 2012(vacancies) and 2013(in which case I will have to wait for one year after residency to start in 2013)?Is it better not to rank the preliminary itself,so that if I dont match I will again apply for all categorical and advanced neuro in 2012 match?Pls reply friends
I think it depend on what will u do in this yr, having 1 year of experience is always better, and there will be PGY2 positions open. If i am not mistaken, may be u can still apply to categorical if u are ok with redoing the intern year. hope someone else can add their opinion. GL
I agree with smart 99% and not 100% since I'm not sure if he/she can apply for categorical again next year.
Hi smartneuro and docx, thanks for ur replies..See,this is the same doubt I had, thats y asked u guys.Even I wannna know,if I can repeat my categorical internship again?Or if I anyway have to mostly wait after internship for a year,i think it is better to wait now and then apply again next year.In either case I dont want to sacrifice my neuro ambition..How can I get an answer for this question? Can I call eras aand ask?
Call ECFMG or ERAS
ok docx, thank u..I will call this monday..Good luck with ur match results..
@jvs84, sorry buddy for not replying earlier, I have not had the chance to write earlier. You know I never have hesitated to give my opinion here. So it’s a tricky situation and a decision which only you can make. Like smartneuro mentioned, why are you assuming you will not get in? Be optimistic and I really wish you the best of luck for the match. However, if you don’t match in a categorical position, it’s a tricky situation and I don’t know the answer to your question about having categorical options open after doing a prelim year of IM. The other thing is even if you don’t match, you still have the option of going through scramble. Again, if you don’t have any prelim position, then you can try to scramble into categorical or advanced progs (assuming they have open positions), and if you match into a Prelim position but no advanced prog, you can try to scramble into advance Neuro programs (again assuming they have open positions). The ultimate decision rests upon you, because it’s a decision that you have to make and live with. Wish you the best buddy and keep us updated. Will be rooting for you to match!
@nerdman, I still haven't entered my ROL yet. What does your ROL look like?

@smartneuro, buddy, go with what you feel is the best. It's a tough situation to guess at and the last thing you want is to second guess yourself one way or another. Let me know how you decide to rank them!

@snowhite, sorry, I understand what you meant now!
