hey happy doc are you a pathology resident??
Hi everybody,
good to see all the path people here,
My credentials are 99 both step. CS pass from the first attempt ( ecfmg certified). 2 months rotation at Baylor college of Medicine but not in path with 2 LoRs from there again from IM department not Pathology.
currently doing observership in pathology in Children's Hospital Boston, affiliated with Harvard. graduated in 2007.
But: no path LoR from US pathologist, not taken step3, no puplication and no reaserch.
applied to 50 programs, got 2 rejections: BRW and Cornell/NY.
no IV yet.
I'm so stressed, and afraid of getting out of match.
do you think I have a chance this year?
thankx everybody
Texas A&M??? Which program is this? Which city? Don't remember if I applied there...

Folks (nami, happy_doctor, everybody who feels a genuine interest in pahtology),

My impression is that Pathology is getting very competitive, because more and more AMGs are applying. As for other competitive specialties, good scores is not enough, or may not be the only point they consider...

I think programs want to see some experience, proof of strong interest and MOST IMPORTANT: US letters of recommendation

someone with 99/99 may get unmatched if no experience/LORS... on the other hand, some with decent scores (>85) may get into a good program with experience and LORS...

That's just my humble point of view though, don''t know whether it is right...

But again, Path programs were busy till now inviting AMGs... there may be more invitations in our way.. Wish the best for you guys!
