Shattered, maybe you should think more positively. If you can manage to pass CS in a short time, you can still catch this year's Match. Maybe you can go to a kaplan class or something similar to get help. Although those may cost you quite some money but may save you a whole year of time. Also, if you finally decided not to join this year's match, you should graciously let the programs know. Next year, these may be the same programs that will grant you an interview and you do not want them to remember you in a bad way.

Suddently you feel like thrown down from the 100 storey building and really have to gather lot of courage to again open that slide over the patient's encounter door.
Please take CS date for this match and start practicing. What were your failed components and let me know if I can help you by my experience of this devastating faliure.

rejection from WI (Madison), South Folorida university (temple).
I am very old IMG, steps 1-3 86/80/88, Canadian citizen, need Visa. All my track is Pathology and research, used to be experienced Pathologist in my country, Master and Ph.D of Pathology, with publications in north America, LOR of pathologists. So far I did not see any positive in my side, becase of my graduation is too long, score is not high enough. no GC. I have to accept this fact. I applied a lot, you guys get rejection, me too, no any IV so far. I am sure I will be a excellent pathologist if I have an opportunity.
The market is very very competitive, in every specilty. I wish I have higher scores. but can do nothing now. I have a full time research job.
Wish you guys good luck. I will not give up, but just feel very bad. This is the first real suffering in my career.

I know, this is very competitive, specially for "old IMGs".
What about trying to get a preliminary/transitional from surgery/ internal medicine as a backup? I heard then it might be easier to switch to pathology...

Don't you think it is too late to apply for Sugery preliminary? I have not any letter from Surgeon, no any background in Surgery, How it will work. Some friends told me 1-2 wks ago. I did not prepare PS for this. How can I do something not really like.
